AROS (Amiga Research Operating System) ist eine freie, Open-Source-Reimplementierung der AmigaOS-API. Ziel ist API-Kompatibilitaet zu AmigaOS 3.1 auf Quellcode-Ebene. AROS laeuft nativ auf x86-PCs (auch 64-Bit), ARM (Raspberry Pi), und als hosted Version unter Linux/Windows. AROS bietet: Wanderer (Workbench-Clone), Zune (MUI-Clone), Shell, TCP/IP-Stack, USB-Support, RTG-Grafik. Icaros Desktop und AspireOS sind populaere AROS-Distributionen. AROS wird aktiv weiterentwickelt und ist voellig kostenlos.
