Workbench

Workbench is the graphical user interface and file manager of AmigaOS, serving as the desktop environment where users interact with files, directories, and system settings through icons and windows. Introduced with the original Amiga 1000 in 1985, it features the distinctive blue and orange color scheme and utilizes the metaphor of a workbench with tools and drawers. Unlike other contemporary GUIs, Workbench allows for customizable backdrops, icon positioning anywhere on the screen, and supports the Amiga's unique inter-process communication through AppIcons and the AppWindow/AppMenu features.
