Kickstart ROM
The Kickstart ROM is the boot firmware and core operating system of Amiga computers, stored in read-only memory chips on the motherboard. It contains essential system components including the Exec multitasking kernel, Intuition GUI libraries, and DOS disk handling routines required to initialize the hardware and boot the machine. Different versions exist (1.3, 2.0, 3.1, etc.) with increasing functionality, typically housed in 256KB or 512KB ROM chips that can be physically replaced or socketed to upgrade the system.
