HAM6
HAM6 (Hold-And-Modify 6) is a display mode introduced with the Original Chip Set (OCS) that enables the Amiga to display up to 4096 colors simultaneously using only 6 bits per pixel. Instead of storing absolute color values for each pixel, the system modifies either the red, green, or blue component of the previous pixel, or selects a new base color from a 16-color palette using two control bits and four data bits. This technique allowed for photorealistic imagery and complex color gradients on early Amiga systems, though it required careful image design to avoid color bleeding artifacts along sharp edges.
