Gayle

Gayle is a custom gate array chip introduced in the Amiga 600 and 1200 models, named after Commodore engineer Gayle Anderson. It combines the functions of the earlier Gary chip with an integrated IDE controller and PCMCIA interface logic, reducing system component count and manufacturing costs. Gayle manages address decoding, hard drive interface signals, and PCMCIA slot control, serving as the central system glue logic for these compact Amiga designs.
